This is so beautiful and deserves my well-kept six. I love the sharpness and of course the clarity of the details. The colors are pure and authentic, a gave me that refreshing factor because it is so natural. Excellent lighting, framing placement, white balance control setting, angle, and focus. I even fell in love with the ripples and water reflections. Exceptional!

The duck is perfectly placed within the frame , well captured with good focus, this image is clear and your exposure is correct, colors and tones appear natural.
I love the way the duck is standing out from the water and the reflection is perfect!

Say it with me, "Kathy is Jealous"! LOL. I have yet to find, then alone capture one of these colorful, interesting ducks with my camera. I chuckled when reading your notes - I'm sure we could share some stories on our efforts to get the shot. ha,ha,ha. I'm not familiar with glow filters - but I'm assuming that is what you used instead of applying a vignette to highlight the duck and its immediate water to have that nice warm glow. Your savviness with camera settings is well demonstrated - the image is crystal clear, perfectly lit, with nice contrast and depth. The added bonus is obviously that clear reflection in the water. A colorful image indeed. Good luck in the contest and be careful crawling to your blind. :o)

Thanks so very much for the excellent review, Kathy and your kind comments; I know how you feel as I have looked with a bit of envy at wood duck photos that others have posted. This is probably the third time I have been fortunate enough to photograph them, a single photo before these easily spooked ducks flew off.So it was a treat to observe these ducks on and off during the day, though they could have swam closer to the blind-lol! I use Snapseed as my editing tool and it has Vintage and glow filters.
