A lovely shot Pat, she really does look like she's using her reflection to see herself - or she was checking there really was another duck below the surface!
Beautifully taken, with great focus and a perfect dof. Good natural colours and a great composition.

She definitely appears that she is checking out her reflection! What a fun surprise you had to find such a sight! Your point of view is excellent. The angle of the shot gives it a special viewpoint. Great shot!

You have indeed pictured this lady mallard well, and I especially like how well you have captured her reflection in the ice. It almost looks as it she is using the ice as a mirror to look at herself.
The photo is very sharp showing truly clear and well defined details in every part of the duck. The exposure is spot on.
The photo is nicely cropped and I like the centered position of the duck within the frame. It is a funny, lovely and well taken photo Pat, and with an excellent DOF.

This is so cute, one of those shots that would be great for a "think or a caption" Several come to mind. Your composition is just right, and center of attention is twice as good, LOL. Think we need more of these shots that just make us smile.

Hi Pat, It does look like this mallard is totally absorbed in her reflection! She probably can't believe how stunning she looks. :o) Love that you caught her when you did. The wonderful focus and lighting really let is fully enjoy the shot! I can picture her quaking, "Mirror. Mirror on the pond who's the fairest of them all?" I love it! :o) Nancy

Hi Pat, this is such a wonderful shot. You have captured it and presented it in such a high-end professional manner. The head on view with the duck looking at her reflection is dynamic and produces appeal and captures the interest of the viewers. The way the water has formed frozen ripples in the texture of the ice, are masterfully presented as tough they are framing the duck. This image is as sharp as they come and delivers wonderful detail in the patterns of the duck. Beautiful!
