I think this is a painting with a strong visual impact, and I especially like the color pallet. It is lovely with the cool blues and greens in contrast to the warm colors of the rose.
I also like the way you have outlined the petals of the rose and the fine textures seen in the background.
The square format is working well, and I like the way the rose is almost filling the frame. It is a very good balance in the composition. It is a lovely and well done painting Ray.

What a lovely and vibrant bloom. I like how you have drawn the layers of petals with the use curve lines in white and black. The shades of blue and green background are great choice of contrasting colors with the pinkish blossom. Great painting skills, Ray. An uplifting piece.

Very aptly named, Ray, this beauty indeed incorporates the gorgeous colors of the setting sun and appears to glow with an inner light. I like the outlining with white and black, as it makes the rose seem to shimmer, like the sun as it sets near the horizon. The background coloration compliments and contrasts with the vibrancy of the rose, all while softly framing it with delicate foliage. A beauty for sure!

I must admit, this one left me speechless as my thoughts bounced around in my head similar to a pinball machine in an arcade.
This is so different from your other works. I find it very interesting and captivating as the red rose dominates the scene as to say, "You Better Stop and Smell the Roses"!
I know little about painting - other than attending wine and brush parties - I'm curious, did you use a sponge to get that neat design of foliage that serves to form a Vinette around the rose?
