This Dove looks so pretty with the fluffed up feathers, and you have indeed pictured it well. I like the background as well, and when softened like this the Dove is standing out from it in an excellent way.
The focus is spot on and sharp showing such clear and well defined details in the feathers of the bird, and the exposure is perfect. The colors look nice and natural.
The photo is nicely cropped, and the bird has got such a fine placement within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with a very good DOF.

Thanks Annie, glad you liked the photo. I appreciate your comments. I had to laugh as its head looks so small compared to it puffed up feathers. That is how my wife looks in winter! : ))

LOL - Probably me as well. You are more than welcome for the review Allan.

Tis that time of year where all birds are hunkering down in the colder weather. The image is nicely taken. Nice colors, details and lighting. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Nancy, it sure is fluffed up based on how small the head looks. It looks a lot like my wife when it gets cold! : )

Hi allanoak
Definitely looks like the dove ready for the big chill. Looks like it's wearing one of the thick jumpers I reach for when my spine gets the shivers and it's time to hibernate. Thanks for sharing this! R

Nestled on a tree branch, the all-fluffed-up dove gazes around, ideally at home in its peaceful forest havenâ€"a very impressive presentation. Thanks for sharing!

Allan,
A beautiful picture of the Morning Dove all puffed up against the cold. The light sparkling in it's eye. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

A lovely shot of this little bird all fluffed up. The focus and clarity are quite good showing a lot of detail in the fluffy feathers. We have a lot of mourning doves here in Florida, and I had the great experience of watching a pair lay eggs and raise their 2chicks in one of my hanging baskets.

Thanks for the nice review. I bet you enjoyed seeing the doves raise their young. Here in MN we do not have a lot of these birds, I got lucky one day. We winter in FL so maybe will get another chance.

Hi Allan, isn't is amazing how they buff up to stay warm? I never know to admire them in this state or to feel sorry for them. I keep food out for them in the winter (once the bears go into hibernation).
This is such a lovely image with notable Dof to allow this subject to stand out in such a predominant way. Your steady hand and camera setting know-how, has resulted in a wonderful image that is certainly fitting for any bird book or calendar I've ever seen.
While there is some faint level of distraction (maybe a leaf or something) entering the frame from the bottom - I do not find it distracting enough to be concerned.
A lovely image.

Thanks Kathy for the nice review. You always give my images some philosophical thought which I enjoy. I do see the blurred leaf now also, wish it was not there. Thanks again.

Wow Allan, this mourning dove is beautiful and you have photographed it so very well ! Spot on focus, this image is sharp and clear and your exposure is perfect! Colors and tones appear natural. The dove is perfectly placed within the frame , well defined detail over every visible part , I love the fluffed up feathers and appreciate that clear eye !
Well composed and presented! I wish I had a six left to award.

Thanks Pat, another nice review. I appreciate the cyber 6 on this image. I admire how nature tries to take care of itself by unique ways. We just put on another sweater or turn up the thermostat! : )
