The sea was sapphire coloured, and the sky
Burned like a heated opal through the air;
We hoisted sail; the wind was blowing fair
For the blue lands that to the eastward lie.
From the steep prow I marked with quickening eye
Zakynthos, every olive grove and creek,
Ithaca's cliff, Lycaon's snowy peak,
And all the flower-strewn hills of Arcady.
The flapping of the sail against the mast,
The ripple of the water on the side,
The ripple of girls' laughter at the stern,
The only sounds: -when 'gan the West to burn,
And a red sun upon the seas to ride,
I stood upon the soil of Greece at last!

Wonderful pastel artwork Maureen!
I wish to be in Greece on vacation also. The warmth and tranquillity of the region are showing so well.

very cool scene looking from the stairway platform. the depth is great. the shading is excellent. the depth is great. the blend of the colors is excellent. the creation is balanced and very eye appealing to the viewer. creative and awesome work overall.

A lovely piece of art here showing Greek Architecture and scene very well. The colors and scene are very indicative of Greek life.
I read some other comments regarding reviews. I'm not sure why they are so few. WhenI started posting in 2017 there were 2-3 pages of art and/or photographs to review. Not so now. I'm wondering if they have lost membership numbers.

Wow on many fronts today.
1st - what an amazing pastel, artistically achieved to embrace the beauty of Greece. The white adobe type style home offers such a powerful focal point among the supportive colors in the sky, water and accenting florals / trees around the residence. Gorgeous.
2nd - concerning I'm your fourth review after two days. That is concerning. My recent post has also struggled to receive interest / reviews. Maybe it's due to the weather, or upcoming holiday's.
Oh well - beautiful work Maureen. I guess we will just keep plugging away. Though I must admit. I get more responses on Facebook. Thank you for being 1 of 3 that reviewed my posters. LOL

Love the scene of the palms and the ocean. The contrasting colors of the yellow sky that reflects in the water is beautiful. I would love to down to that stair and enjoy the breeze. Great concept and composition. This made me think of being in the ocean with a sunrise or sunset setting.
