I never knew that a turtle would have such long necks. It is really great to see this creature coming up for a breath, and I especially like the way the light is falling on its head. It is also standing out well from the dark water.
The photo is sharp showing such clear and well defined details in every part of the turtle, and the exposure is very good.
I also like the tight cropping and the fine placement of the turtle within the frame. It is a lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF.

Thank Annie, I think this is maybe where the term, "sticking your neck out too far" comes from. This one looked like such a gentle animal not to hurt anyone, compared to a snapping turtle! Thanks again.

You are more than welcome Allan.

I used to have one of these. Cranky turtles for sure! He liked to try and bite whenever he could LOL. The details are wonderful, the lighting and focus nice. Over all a great presentation. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Lynnmarie for the nice comments. That was an interesting pet. I would guess it did not bite very hard though. But I could be wrong also.

Again, you will get my last 6 for the week! This is an incredible shot that not many will ever (in a lifetime) achieve. Kudos to you Allan! You should seriously, if you have not already, check-out other venues to accredit this work. The image is so unique, sharp and well taken - I cannot imagine any publisher not wanting it. Jealous to say the least, but good for you, this is such a nice addition to your profile.

Thanks Kathy, I am honored to get your last six of the week. There are so many good post to award that rating.
I have thought from time to time to market some of my images. But then I reach the same conclusion, that it would reduce the enjoyment of just having fun without it being a job. So thanks for the compliment. BTW-I am the one who is jealous of your work!!
