I must have missed this post in the past. This is awwesome image and worthy of the award.

I always love the use of blue/orange complementary colors as this scene makes.

I am intrigued by the "tornado like" cloud coming off the main cloud, lots of drama. The silhouetted trees make the image so much better. Well done!

Oh, Alan. It was so kind of you to still take a look at this image and offer a review after its promotion ended. I appreciate that. And the added star is very gracious.

Sad to hear what you have been and continue to deal with in regards to your parents and my thoughts are with you :-) I also understand your frustration with AI taking away from your love of photography. I have been feeling like what is the point myself in continuing but I have a subscription until march and then will make a decision. Till then, I hope you stay because you are a very good photographer and I enjoy your reviews. Great shot of a glorious days end with great vibrant sky adding its red glow over the wooded landscape. Great colours with good exposure. Good focus, texture and clarity. Well done and thanks for sharing :-)

Mark - Thank you for this kind review. I've left you a personal message if you have time to check it out. :o)

Kathy, I understand your bane, I understand your dis- may. You take photos because you enjoy capturing beautiful moments in time. People love AI, because it fulfills an inadequate feeling in their ability to create or capture. You are blessed with a wonderful sense of being able to appreciate something that is beautiful. You will go through the "why bother" phases and put down the brush or in your case the camera. Things are tough right now for you. Just give it a rest for now. My father died over thirty years ago of a heart attack , my father in law died in the same year, my mother had dementia she passed three years ago, and my mother in law lived with us for over 25 years and is in assisted living at 98. Don't stop using your talent, because the things in your life will change, now you are in a funk. Hang in there. Ray

Ray, I have received so much support, but none as heartfelt as this! You warmed my tattered heart! Thank you!! I'm so sorry for your losses over the years. I've been blessed - and this is all new to me. I've always prided myself as a strong, vibrant capable woman. But damn - lately it's like dodging a meteor shower. I'm simply trying to adjust to changing times (no different than my grandmother who once used a wash board and then enjoyed a washing machine). I do find peace and enjoyment reviewing authentic ART (Beit traditional or photographic). I am sad that others find it okay to "Scrap" our images to load AI's Library. On the other hand, I guess I'm coming to peace with the fact we can't take it with us. Thank you so much! Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season.

The sky in these lovely scene looks fantastic. It almost looks like it was one fire. This tremendous golden glow has also given the lovely hues to the landscape underneath.

The pine trees are standing out sharp and well defined against all this glory, and it is clear details to be seen. The exposure is spot on.

The format and framing is perfect, and I think it is a fine balance in the composition. A truly lovely and well taken photo Kathy, and with an excellent DOF.

I also have to add that I agree with you about AI. I don't think it should be allowed here on FAR at all. I am also very sorry to hear about your parents. It is not easy to be old. I am 77 years old myself, and hope I will be fit for fight some more years.

Well Annie - I'm feeling a bit melodramatic in this post, and that was not my intention. I've been Truley blessed over the years, and only recently have been forced to come to terms with mortality. Given the constant need to advocate for my parents and then learn the only diversion / comfort (photography) is being "Scraped" from my Facebook and website, to fuel AI, has certainly caused a moment of pause. Though this 6-star rating is certainly welcomed and appreciated; I hope you know how much I have (and will continue to) enjoy your creative post. It is so much enjoyable to relate to other "Authentic" artists. Thank you for your kind, gracious review and for sharing your thoughts on AI. While I'm confident it has a forum - I hate the idea of it being construed as "ART".

You are more than welcome Kathy, and I think it is OK to be a bit melodramatic now and again and tell us what you feel.

Wonderful photograph Kathy and nicely presented; if I had six stars I would awarded it here.

Your personal story is ready touching and I hope that you will not give up on the get out of the photography. You are very talented and even if the monetary reward is not there ( maybe only not yet!)
Happy holidays and more of a good events and experiences in the New Year!

This is beautiful and so well captured with your phone camera, this shows the ability of the photographer to capture this scene just right, I love that you allowed more space for the beautiful sky to give nice depth to your scene, that is your instinct as a photographer! We get such a good sense of place here with the hills in back and the evergreens . I love the vibrant color of the spectacular clouds as they move over the blue sky.
This is well focused, clear and the lighting is beautiful. The colors are gorgeous! Well composed and presented!
I agree with your thoughts regarding photography verses AI, please don't stop using your camera, you are a talented photographer!
I am so sorry about the emotional drain you are experiencing, I also admire you for the way you are handling it. I can't even imagine the sadness for both your mom and your dad.I lost both of my parents and two of my brothers, actually this is the 22 anniversary of my younger brother's death. I hope that you are able to have a peaceful Christmas and that 2025 will be a good year for you!
