It is always nice to see alternate approaches. The colours gently overflow, which seems to lead to the gentleness of the painting. The texture gives it added interest. Well done! Good luck!

Hi Ray, I really like this artwork the perception of depth that you have created with the tall canyon walls and the bold colors that reflect along the river surface is very I appealing. Staging your brightest colors at the very top of the background also helps with the depth. This is very talented and enjoyable and a great entry to the landscape contest. Best wishes! Jodi

Your reflections are well done, but I can see the pencil marks where you drew it first. You have to be careful with that as it looks more like a pencil crayon drawing then an acrylic painting, And I work a lot with acrylics as its my favorite medium for painting

Lise it has been a while, You do those wonderful flower and woodland pictures with acrylic paint, folk art which is very popular now, and of course your photography. I am glad you like the reflections in the river. I used black and white ink to create the effect on the water. No pencil work or crayons, just acrylic and ink and very little ink at that. It is noted in the description process. One last thought, there are no rules in art and if there were they were ment to be broken, I am sure you agree. The best of luck in the up coming contest, I really like your entry.

Very good acrylic paint and ink here and sometimes simplicity works as is in this case. I like the colours, textures and reflections in the water. Well done and good luck in the contest :-)

My favorite part about this painting is the reflection Of light on the river. The perspective and dimension is so good here! It looks as though I am sitting in a boat, Drifting along, Enjoying the river and the reflections in the sun.
Great job!

Nice entry for this contest, this shows the river as it is passing through the canyon, I love the colors and the way you show the water reflecting them , good show of the texture on the canyon walls and in love the diminishing perspective !
Very well arranged and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

Love your use of colors. The yellow really stands out The added orange and purple helps break up the scene while the reflection in the water gives it a certain sense of depth. Wonderfully done. Thanks for sharing.

Striking artwork of the canon that easily be the Grand Canyon in the sunrise or sunset.
The strong lines on the cliffs are so nicely contrasting with the softness of reflections on the flowing water.
Excellent composition and great contest entry!
