This flower is indeed glowing, and with colors like this the photo indeed has a strong visual impact. I like the colors you have added to the background as well, and of course also how well the flower is standing out from it.
The photo is sharp showing such clear and well defined details in the petals of the flower, and the exposure is perfect.
I also like the way you have cropped the photo and the placement of the flower within the frame. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo Steve, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Beautiful flower and so nicely presented.
The vivid colors on its petals and the black bay are a contrast that makes the bloom to really pop up.

now that is definitely an eyecatching bloom, looks like fairy taking the form of a flower, it seems to glow with an inner light. Your deep purple background compliments and sets off this beauty. Just a gorgeous , well focused shot exploding with color!
