A Dahlia is one of the most attractive flowers to photograph, and this one looks great even in black and white. The softened background makes it stand out in an excellent way.
The photo is sharp showing such clear and well defined details in the petals of the flower, and the exposure is very good. Fine distinctions between dark and light.
When it comes to the composition I think you could have added a bit negative space at the top and less at the bottom. Still I think this is an all together lovely and well taken photo with a very good DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

This is a stunning entry for this contest! The dahlia is such a favorite because of its shape and structure , we see the way it unfolds petal by petal from the center out,
This one is beautifully placed within the frame and I like the way it angels slightly to the right .
Spot on focus , this image is sharp and clear and your exposure is perfect, I see well defined detail in every petal as well as in the center.
The flower stands out profoundly from the soft background..
Nice tonal variations in this black and white rendering,
I see how you got your title because yes, this does resemble a pinwheel.
Very well composed and presented!
Very best wishes to you in this contest!

A black and white photo of a single dahlia bloom titled "Pinwheel" evokes an acknowledgement of elegance and beauty. The absence of color shifts the focus to the delicate details of the petals, each one meticulously arranged in a spiraling pattern reminiscent of a pinwheel. The contrast between the light and shadow highlights the texture, giving depth to the bloom and creating an almost three-dimensional effect. The simplicity of black and white adds a layer of sophistication and allows viewers to appreciate the flower's form without the distraction of color. The image is tack sharp and skillfully exposed. This was a beautiful image to review. :o)

A wonderful visual presented here of this beautiful multi petal flower. I love that you used black-and-white to highlight them. Composition is very well thought out the dark background highlights your subject in the perfect way well done.

This is such a lovely presentation of the Dahlia in B&W. You've done a great job with the framing, and the way the light and and shadows interact is really pleasing to the eye. Keep it up! Good luck!

A great entry into the contest. Beautiful focus, clarity, tone and shading. The details of the petals are shown well and the blurred background, keeps the focus on the Dahlia.
Good luck in the contest.
