I like the message and the sketch. I also believe that the art work and the title should stand alone and be able to tell the story without the artists side story of what the view should see. I love the Stairsteps, they were the Burke's children from the Chicago area. I am very familiar with the Philly sound and Motown. I was an avid fan of Soul Train I think this is a touching sketch and very easily understood and a stand alone package, Title and sketch. does it for me. I wish you the best in the up coming contest. Ray

I relate to this sooo much! When I was a child I was very shy. You could not get a word out of me. This is how shy children feel! Beautifully drawn picture, I can feel the emotions of this child you drawn. Thank you for sharing!

Wonderful drawing of this boy as he is thinking. Nice details and soft colors on his hair and on the background. His smart eyes really pop up in this beautiful artwork!
Best of luck in the contest!

I love children and I worked with them for several years. This tells a sad but true story . This child is beautiful and the facial expression is unsure.
I love the hair and the way you show their reflections texture .
Very well created to tell this sad story and to call attention to this child and others. children deserve the very best we can give them, they need lots of love and lots of opportunities to learn and experience the world around them .
Well presented!
Best wishes to you in this contest!

yep know the song well...interesting creation..the details is good. the shading is good. the depth is good. the blend of the colors is good. the only thing i had to reduce the rating is because of the left eye..it should have been placed a lil more to the left also the pupils are looking in 2 different directions. if want for that it would be a star review. still the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. creative approach and good job overall

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.

Thank you! I was working o it and didn't want to over due and rip the page etc but I can attempt to fix that. I value your opinion. Some are seeing it symbolically I think.

A VERY NICE DRAWING as it catches MY eye He is looking Down But She IS looking UP,
as Your Thought was before the Drawing and TRY letting it Out . A Bonus Video that Wraps IT Up so Nicely , Thank You showing Your Work and Thoughts it Brings with It.

When I was growing up, I was a very shy child as well. I think in my case I was just overpowered by my sister and two brothers. I always felt that my word wasn't as important as theirs. I am not shy anymore. Wonderful expression on this lovely child's face. I love those eyes. They're amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Aww. I can relate. I am the very youngest of five. Three much older and one very LOUD identical twin. I lived inside my head and imagination as a child. I think it has made me stribger too because sensitivity turned into Empathy, is very powerful. As you have just displayed here.

    Grateful for yoyr thoughtful review!

A good looking image posted here into the competition, together with interesting notes too. Your fine, full and appropriate composition offers us a very good view of that confused young lad. Well drawn and good luck!
