Haha ...This had to be top marks if just for the content of your notes. Well done!! It hits a point of whether knowledge of defined art types is adhered to for example line art. However that apart your Teddy Boo Boo picture is delightful. Well drawn, creative and colourful. I just hope he doesnt climb out of bed in the morning. Characature characters can often look alive especially yours.

I agree Mark - you do right to post a different type of image than the usual flowers, etc. I love the colours you used for this one and the incredible detail you put in your artwork. Wonder what the Teddy is dreaming about? Very imaginative creation. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

Wow, Mark. You never cease to amaze me with your excellent gift. The talent in Pointillism you carry is extraordinary. You must have great patience.
Love the exterior scene outside the window as well as Mr.Teddy with his bandaged head and fluffy blue blanket. It also makes me smile that you stepped outside the box and called this, Still Life. Which it is!
You are not a "Monkey see, Monkey do", sort of guy. I like that. wishing you the best in this contest!

Nope I'm not ...I'll have some folks make comment that they would like to see into my head for all these ideas..I'll respond back..."(creeeeeek)..sure come in and look but you might wanna bring a flashlight!" ..of course my favorite comeback is .."I'm a legend in my own mind In my own world. Don't worry they all know me there!"..lol..glad you have enjoyed this and thanks for the awesome review

This is most certainly a still life, although traditional works of still life through history include fruit and wine. This teddy bear does not seem to be moving. Ha The whole scene is still and waiting for a child's bedtime it seem. Good work!

Best wishes,

Alex

This is adorable Mark! So colorful and yet full of detail. I love the view out the window, it gives the composition depth of field. Your technique to portray shadowing is so well done, the subject matter almost looks real. Just so loveable.

Mark it is all in how you perceive it. You could call it abstract All art work has a certain percentage of abstract. I thought it is a great entry for the color blue. Personally I like to keep the rules out of art primarily because it is a created illusion, so much different from photography. I wish you luck in your quest. Ray

Hey Mark, This is such a charming illustration, your skill in pointillism shines through in this detailed scene that evokes a feeling of nostalgia and comfort. The focal point is a delightful stuffed teddy bear, perched thoughtfully on a cozy bed. The dots of color intricately form the soft textures of the bear's fur, giving it a sense of depth and warmth.

To the side of the bed, you have created great detail to the chilly outdoors. The dots seamlessly transition from the plush interior to the ethereal exterior, capturing the play of light as it cascades into the room.

I want to take a moment to thank you, for including the definition of still life art in your notes. Considering that FAR is an educational platform, it is particularly valuable to remind fellow subscribers of the various techniques, subjects, and forms of artistic creativity.

One common misconception is that most still life artworks, especially those found through a quick Google search, primarily depict dishware and food. However, still life art encompasses a much broader range of subjects, including everyday objects, flowers, and even thematic compositions that tell a deeper story. By highlighting these diverse aspects, you have encouraged a richer understanding and appreciation of still life art.

Good luck in the contest. :o)
