This yellow rose with a touch of pink just looks fantastic, and you have pictured it so well. The light is falling on the flower in such a lovely way, and I also like the all dark background. It makes the rose stand out so well.
The focus is spot on and sharp, and it is indeed clear and well defined details in all the petals of the rose. The exposure is just perfect.
I also like the tight cropping and the placement of the rose within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

This type of rose is my favorite. I want a bush like this so bad. Definitely a beckoning rose! She sang to you didn't she? So inviting! The black background is a nice touch!

This is beautiful flower that you captured. The lighting of this flower is so fabulous. The angle in which you captured it in is so gorgeous. The rose blossoming is simply gorgeous and showing that Spring is in full sprit to get here! Thank you for sharing!

This is about as perfect a rose shot as I seen in a long time Alan.
Rose petals have millions of little crenulations (the ridges and valleys on the surface of each petal) and they are the key to a fine rose shot. You got just about all of them in sharp focus. Had you stopped down one more stop you would have gotten all of them.
The framing and colors are magnificent. The Black background makes for a very dramatic look, and that always works with Roses.

Thanks Bob for you experienced review of this image. I learned something, that the fine ridges are called crenulations. I agree also, black backgrounds usually work with a flower(s). Thanks.
