This Is wonderful to see. Congrats wih my love on this one. I want to be there. As cold as it looks, I want to touch the water, throw a rock and break the ice on the water. This is supreme. Brilliant colors and elements added. Your perfect on this one, well done, thanks my friend, this makes me happy-er, lol.

Ray,
A very beautiful painting of trees growing around a partially frozen pond. With some dried copper coloured leaves still clinging to the branches. The trees are then reflected on the open water's surface of the pond. Created in your artit's eye for composition, very skilful brushwork beautiful choice, blending & application of your colours in bringing this scene to life on your canvas.

Woah, I missed this one first time around. What a great piece of art. I am always drawn to blue/orange colors, cool and warm contrast as well as complementary.
I like the hint of reflelection either on water or smooth ice, either way a nice touch.
You hint of outlines is once again very unique and eye appealing.
Great job and first place for sure.

One of my favorite scenes will have snow and open water together! I just love that combination !
This is gorgeous Ray, the pond still partially frozen is so very well created , I can see the ice thinning near the open water, I like the snowy ground in front, that tree on left foreground works as framing as well as giving nice depth ,
The tall trees are well situated and I love the light and reflections , very well chosen and applied colors , this is a wonderful entry for this contest! Very best wishes to you!

Ray, this is beautiful! I've painted acrylic landscapes mostly since high school and those reflections are fun to do. I've lost a step over the years as I mentioned but I'm practicing every day. I love the light and colors here. It truly gives the exact moment in time that your title announces. I would not step on that pond. I truly enjoyed reviewing this and you've created a winter scene that's both realistic and impressionist, like life itself.
Best wishes,
Alex

Alex, thank you for your wonderful review. I try to paint what I know from past experience and this one is not from a photo but from my years hiking through the woods during all seasons. I used complimentary colors for affect. You write nice review, thank you again. If you need any help or ideas feel free to ask. Ray

Thank you so much, Ray! Two main colors in this painting are blue and orange which are my favorite team york Mets colors, too.

My home town. Ray

Me too. I was born and raised in Queens. It makes me laugh how those Mets colors together have always be appealing to me. My husband and I met on a new york Mets fan page.
Although I would have enjoyed your painting, regardless of that orange and blue connection.
Alex :)

Wonderful artwork of this frozen pond and all the trees framing it, also frozen at this cold time..
Cheerful colors and light are peaking through as a new sunrise emerges in the back on the horizon.
Ray, great and warm presentation in the freezing winter.

A lovely painting of a lake partially frozen and surrounding trees in the midst of winter. The colors are cool and fully represent the feeling of winter. Good luck in the contest.

What a place to go skating ( at least when the ice is nice and solid)! We had a little pond in my back yard when I was a kid and used to do a lot of skating. This brings back memories of that time. Love how this almost has a slight foggy appearance. the light colors make you feel the chill in the air. Always loved it when ice was still forming. There were such pretty designs in fresh thin ice. Looks like thee tree limbs might have a slight frost, snow or freezing rain on them. I'm picturing a pretty sunset behind them. Love the view you created.
I think this is a great entry for the winter art contest. I enjoyed the view! Good Luck! :o) Nancy
