I really like the simplicity of this photo, and also how well the red lights are standing out. Would have done great in a "red" contest. It is also a very special atmosphere with the sunset sky and the volcanic gasses from Mt Vesuvius.
The photo is sharp and it is such clear and well defined details in every part of the photo. The exposure is just spot on.
The format and framing is perfect, and I think it is a very good balance in the composition. I think this is a great looking and well taken photo Allan, and with an excellent DOF.

Thanks Annie, great review. When I saw the volcano in the background I was amazed as it thought it was extinct for a long time.
We later toured Pompeii itself and got to see what they uncovered over time. Like a time capsule.

It's interesting that you have captured this to show The volcanic mountain in back .we can see that it is venting gasses.
Well captured , I like the red lights in foreground and the way you have placed the mountain in between them. The railing across acts as framing .
Well focused, clear image with good use of the light , I like the pink and purple tones.
Interesting that you show this as we are currently on alert with one of our volcanos here, Mt Spur, it has happened before and the ash was terrible .
Well composed and presented!

Thanks Pat for the great review. This was a very memorable shot for me for many of the reasons you stated. I did not know that you lived within active volcanoes with alerts for possible eruption. That was interesting to hear. Ash must just be terrible to clean up.

You've captured a wonderful moment in nature! The framing is well thought out, and the use of light and shadows adds both depth and character. The colours are vibrant, and the composition ties everything together seamlessly. Excellent effort!

This is beautiful Allan. My dad and maternal grandparents were from Greek islands. My husband is Italian. The colors are dramatic and calm at the same time. The volcanic games are amazing looking. Thank you for sharing! Alex
