I appreciate the fact that you put this out there. There is one person specifically that frustrates me with claims of the AI work being his own watercolors. There's NO way one could get those looks in watercolors.
I really believe they need "AI" to be a category to choose.
It is not fair to us who take hours to create our own work.

Yes, that was part of the reason I posted this. Such great artists on this site that are obviously going up against AI which they call traditional. It is not fair. Thank you for the notice! And yes, I know who you are talking about.

I can immediately see the time and thought you have applied here and I greatly appreciate the way you explain as well as demonstrate the two different types of art with digital work on the left and AI works on the right in two examples.
This is very informative and with you presenting the examples side by side it is easy even for photographers like myself who know nothing about these two different methods , it is obvious to me that the digital pieces have a much more realistic appearance.
I think that when you spot Ai being presented as Traditional Art, that you certainly should point it out in your review.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Very well presented!

Thank you for saying something that needs to be said. Sometimes I feel disheartened when I see what I do have to compete with. However, it is what it is in this site. Thank you for being honest. There should be more people like you out there.

Thank you for the reply. I love your work and when I see a obvious AI image being called traditional art, going against a true traditional artwork, I get irritated. Now there are programs out there that will tell you if a image is likely AI or not and guess what, quite a few of the traditional artwork listed on this site is actually AI. You'll likely never stop it, however I feel it's a slap in the face to those, like you, who work hard at what you do. I have nothing against AI, but people need to be transparent when they use it.

I completely understand your concerns about the rise of AI-generated art and how it intersects with traditional and digital artistic disciplines. Your dedication to your craft is evident, and I respect the effort and creativity that go into traditional and digital works alike.
However, I'd like to clarify that the artworks I create are not purely AI-generated but a fusion of artistic vision, digital techniques, and AI-assisted toolsâ€"what I call "Integrated Digital Mixed Media Artworks." AI is merely one component of my creative process, much like digital brushes in Photoshop are for many digital artists. The guidance, refinement, and iterative process I undertake ensure that my work reflects my vision rather than just an algorithm's output.
AI does not replace artistic intent or originalityâ€"it is a tool, much like a camera for a photographer or digital software for illustrators. The difference comes in how it is used. I meticulously direct, edit, enhance, and refine the results to achieve a distinct artistic expression. Creativity isn't just in the brushstroke; it's in the concept, composition, and emotion that an artist brings to their work.
That said, I absolutely agree that transparency is important. I openly acknowledge AI as part of my workflow, just as digital artists disclose their use of software. However, dismissing AI-assisted art as lacking creativity might overlook the nuances of how different artists interact with these tools. The conversation around AI and art is evolving, and I believe the focus should be on how artists use tools to express their creativity, rather than on the tools themselves.
I appreciate your insights and respect your perspective. Art is vast, and there's space for all forms of creativity to coexist and thrive.

Thank you for the explanation and review. I have no issue with anyone using AI, I do from time to time. The bigger issue is when someone uses a AI image and says it's traditional. It's basically a slap in the face to traditional artists who work hard at their craft. It only adds fuel to the fire of people despising AI. I'm seeing it more and more on this site and others and it's simply not fair. I maybe a digital artist now but I was a traditional artist for over thirty years and I know the struggle traditional artists go through. I wish FAR would allow us to post the creative journey via multiple images. I think that would clear out lots of the fakes :)

Good you are pointing this out and you can see the difference people should say what it is though [otherwise its not fair] i had a go at ai only because i got a free programme on trial found it interesting but not taking it up,prefer taking photos as you get to meet more people....Brian

Thank you for the reply. Oh I agree! I also think that when a traditional artwork has been corrected in Photoshop or other programs it's no longer traditional, it's digital. I wish we were allowed to post images of our process like you can on Artstation and Behance. Either way, I to had a go at AI but it looks so fake now that I look back. I will use it as a tool but add my own to it but really, I prefer my digital images from Blender and Daz over AI. I like the more realistic look, not the bottle blond effect.. lol

Lynnmarie, thank you for clarifying the differences between AI and digital artwork. If given a choice I would always choose digital versus AI. I am a bit of a purist so both do not appeal but then lesser od two evils is digital art.

I understand, everyone has their preferences. I am not a fan of abstract but I've seen some lovely work by Ray. Neither do I have a issue with AI. What I have a issue with is people posting AI work and calling it traditional. There is never a 100% way to prove it but there are a couple images under traditional that are so obviously AI but are posted as traditional. It's not fair to traditional artists. To me its no different then a slap in the face and does nothing but put more animosity against AI from traditional artists which should be rightly so. Eventually FAR and other sites will crack down on the cheating, at least I hope they do to make it fair all the way around. :)
