You've captured the feeling of movement by the guitarist here very well, Maureen. I like the colours you chose, which show up well against the black background. I know how hard it is to paint or draw musical instruments and you've done this very well. Lovely composition. Suzanne

This is beautiful. I can get a sense of movement in this picture. I love the guitar. The clothes are nice. I can see the wrinkles in the fabric very well. The background is unique and really makes the guitarist stand out. I like where you captured shadows and light. There is great dimension to this picture. Thanks for sharing.

This is a great contender for the contest. It is visually most appealing. All of the colors work harmoniously together and the little touches that you have given it such as the glitter and streamers in the background, help to convey the musicians dedication to her craft and to give a sense of movement to the character. I love all the shades of blue that you have used and I love the colors you chose for the guitar. They successfully contrast everything else around it.

As a Delta boy i grew up on the blues, living more than a 100 miles away in every direction from civilization. That is known as the Mississippi Delta..(200 square miles of nothing but cotton fields and old shacks...when driving from Memphis to coast thru my boring Deltaland i start singing.."Cotton field, Cotton Field, Cotton field, shack..etc for 200 miles." lol..I have worked off of Beale street for a few years, thru my life i have meet many R&B, motown, and rock artists. BB king is originally from Indianola, Ms.. 10 miles from my hometown(Leland,Ms.)..Charlie Pride (black country singer) is from Mound Bayou, Ms. Dorothy Moore(Motown singer) Leland, Ms. ..Famous Jim Henson, Leland Ms. ..Joe Frank Corrolla (Rock Group Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds..hits are from the 70s) ..10 miles north ..Archie Manning (Famous pro footballer and father of Eli and Payton Manning) Shaw, Ms. ..10 miles south Mac Macanally (songwriter for Jimmy Buffet) Belzoni, Ms. ...60 miles north...Morgan Freeman (actor) and still has a house and comes to visit in Holly Springs, Ms...now when i finally get Memphis on the freedom highway 61..there you find that folks like Cathy Bates (actress) is from Frazier area(memphis) or Justin Timberlake is from Germantown,TN. (memphis)..or Rick Dees for a decade DJ on the local Memphis station before he had his hit "Disco Duck". Blues is the father to Rock. Jazz (in my opinion) is great for movies and broadway but if you want to motivate a crowd put on a good blues tune. great job on capturing the mood in the body language and form. the details is great. the depth is great. the shading is great. the blend of the colors is great. the presentation is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. creative and awesome work overall.
