Hello again, Ray! I miss several of your pieces recently because I've been out of pocket a bit! I've been really busy getting ready to open an art gallery!!
Anyway, I can see why this is the winner! It's as though these candles look like they're made of glass. Love the flames and the reflection! This is so fabulously done!
Is this the painting? I'm supposed to ask you of the story behind?
I was also wondering if this started out as black paper.

The best of luck in your gallery. This is black paper primed in dark blue because the paper falls apart if not primed. I am glad you like this one, I enjoy doing candles. I prime it because i don't want the acrylic leaching into the paper. That way the paint sits on top and can be moved around or removed easily. Ray

Awesome! Thank you you for tolerating my questions. I know most just want to see a review, but Others art stirs up questions on my mind quite often! Since I am self-taught, it’s fun to know how something is done

There's no secret in my mind on who did this! :o) I love the liquid look of the candles. They look glass like and are very pretty! You did a nice job with the flame, showing both the blue and yellow parts of it. The reflection on the glass tabletop is very nice too! I think you arranged the whole thing very nicely "R"!
Love the balance of the different sizes too! This is a very nice piece! Enjoy your six stars! Good Luck in the contest! :o) Nancy

Hi Nancy, So glad you enjoyed this. Candles are peaceful and create a wonderful soft light, they flicker in a soft breeze and when scented smell divine as they burn. What's not to like. you for your wonderful review, rating and compliments. You know my work so well.

Cool, three things caught my attention right off - the composition is great, I like the asymetry. The flames are very good as they capture the hottest blue part of the flame grading to yellow as it gets cooler. The third thing is the amazing glass like appearance of that the candels rest on. The more I look at it the more I like it.

This is a beautiful entry for this contest.
I like that you chose to create 7 candles, 7 is a lucky number for my family.
I like the earthy color of the pillar candles and I like that you have 4 that are the same size and the the 3 that are taller with the one in front center being a bit more narrow, this gives a more realistic look . The flames are well shown and I like the black background and reflections on the glass .
Very thoughtfully created, arranged and presented! Best wishes to you in this contest!

Thank you for your wonderful review Elisabetta. Artists rule of odds, an odd grouping is found to be more appealing to the eye. I hope this helps you.

This painting of the candles tells a story that extends beyond the scenery. The textures, the atmosphere, and the mood all combine to create something truly evocative. Well done. Good luck!

This is and interesting submission to the contest. The body of the candles appear almost transparent and the flames against a black background are stunning. Good luck in the contest.
