This is a beautiful landscape photograph, rugged and dramatic. Depth of field, focus and clarity are great. The rocks in the foreground show wonderful texture as the eye moves on to the smoothness of the water and then to the ruggedness of the mountain in the background. The stormy skies add to the moody theme. Nicely presented. Good luck in the contest.

Charlotte this is a wonderful capture of the Scotland country side. The sky is alive with threatening clouds and seems to me you were just in time to grab this area fo sunshine. Wonderful scene. Ray. I have Scottish blood.

Thank you very much Ray, for your great review!
It's actually Wales, though in my notes I did liken it to Scotland, the landscape is similar, and both are stunning.
Do you know where abouts in Scotland your ancestors came from? You should go visit sometime :)

In the vicinity of Loch Lomon, hopefully I will venture across the pond for a visit. Another quarter is form County Cork Ireland and half Italian. So beautiful. Ray

    What a great mix Ray!
My ancestors were Viking - which Ben is very proud about! I took him once to a cemetery at a village called Morseton, on the east coast of England where our ancestors first landed, it took us hours to go round as Ben wept and insisted on saying a prayer at each and every one of the Morse graves - and there were dozens of them!! Lol

Yes think weather does play a big part in landscape photos, using the rocks in such a dramatic wayin this foreground has made for a better landscape than without them.
It has made the dof better and giving scale to the place but also the sky played a bit part in this, have been to wales mainly north, where did you go...Brian

Thanks Brian for your good review.
Yes, it was in North Wales, but where exactly I took it I haven't a clue as we wandered around a lot - and got lost!! It's probably around Ffestiniog, or at least in that area of North Wales as that's where we spent a lot of the time.

have been their and on the railway, also did you get to portmerion, was a good photo though

Yeah we did the Ffestiniog railway too, I used to have a friend who lived nearby and had his own station - Campbell's Halt. But that was a long time ago, he's dead now, though his station is still there.
Yes, I've also visited Portmerion, but again a long time ago.

What a wonderful capture. I would love to paint such a scene. There's a quiet power in the way of the shapes and spaceâ€"it speaks directly to the heart. Well done. Regretfully, I have run out of my sixes. This richly deserves it.
