LYSIMACHI clethroides - what a mouthful of a name for such a simple, lovely plant! AKA name is Gooseneck Loosestrife and often referred to simply as 'Gooseneck' This perennial gets its name from the delicate white blooms whose graceful arches bring to mind the curve of a goose's head.

Blooming in mid to late summer, the ½ inch, star-shaped, white flowers are borne on stems that are about 12 inches long. The flower heads have a bend or curve in them, creating a whimsical "gooseneck" appearance. Interestingly, all plants point in the same direction, giving the effect of a gaggle of geese.

Plants grow to 3′ and are vigorous to the point of invasiveness, which I much prefer over plants that limp their way through the season. LYSIMACHIA is a superb ground cover. To deal w/ it's invasive tendencies I plant it in front of taller perennials that can help restrain it's enthusiasm.
