The bud with its multi-colored petals within and the light green outer leaves and stem are all lovely. The less vivid background helps this lovely bud to pop. This is rather a uniquely-colored and fine bud, the details shown so plainly. Your capture of the scene is skilled.

A beautiful picture of an Opium/Oriental poppy just starting to burst out of it's bud case in Rufford, Lancashire, it's magenta pink petals with it's dark near black center bursting out of the green bud case & stem contrasting with the grey background. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus. Good like in the contest.

I thought it wad a poppy! Lol I love that particular color. Love the way you have it leaning to the back. The only thing I would have done differently is not had such space at the top, otherwise the image is perfect. Love both the focus and lighting. Good luck in the contest. :o) Helvi

Sometimes simple is just as good as heavy editing. In this case, it is perfect. The depth of field was a great idea as the poppy really stands out. Great color, contrast and detail.
