Kathy this take is just downright gorgeous in every technical and artistic way - Bravo!

The ominous overcast juxtaposed over the Hawks raptor gaze sets very dramatic mood of anticipation.

The green of the conifer that it's perched on is just enough contrasting color that enhances the countenance of the bird.

That's one serious bird a-lookin at me!...Bob

OMG Kathy, this photo is simply amazing!! Everything about it is just stunning - the focus is spot on, composition is good, colours are very natural looking and that grey background makes the whole thing pop. Plus he's looking directly at you! Wow.

This red tailed hawk is looking right at me. This is one ferocious raptor. I once saw one dive bomb a pigeon in mid air and when it was finished with it , there was only a pile of feathers left. This one stands tall among the scotch pine ominously. Nicely framed and focused. Ray

I scrolled down to select a 6 rating and had now left, so I offer up a cyber six, sorry.

This is one of those Nat Geo shots we all strive for. The subject a needles are amazingly sharp. The composition is spot on, the hawk is not directly in the center and the needles take up about a third of the lower frame.

The hawks stare makes the shot. It is pretty intimidating, especially if your were a mouse or rodent.

I like the drab color of the overcast sky, it helps to accentuate the warm colors of the hawks feathers.

One to be very proud of Kathy.

I almost thought this was a painting on first glance Kathy ,maybe it was due to the filter but that aside it is a good portrait photo of this hawk and using the grasses etc adds a bit extra,,,brian
