This is a beautiful scene that entails so much, lovely features/scenes in it. The patch of light green and other green along with the castle are enchanting, as is the flower field/garden in front. The sky is nice as is the distant land.

Glena, thank you so much for your lovely review, especially as it?s now only paying a measly 2c! Very much appreciated on both accounts!

Oh we missed this castle, I think we were castle and cathedral out by the time we got to Northumberland :)
Love the pov with the jonquils in the foreground. Colors are great. You did well to get a photo without tourists most places we visited were packed with people.

Oh what a shame Mary, there are so many fabulous castles in Northumberland (defence against the constantly invading Scots!) - so you didn?t even get to visit Bamburgh Castle either? That one is a real stunner, perched on a cliff above the sea and an amazing beach!
Thank you so much for your review.

No we stayed at Rutland Water for a few days but were busy catching up with family from area which I hadn't seen since for around 20 years when they visited Australia. As I left UK when I was 6 years old they were keen to show us where my mum grew up and places she knew especially as she had passed away 3 months before our trip.
-
Oh Mary, how sad that you missed seeing your mother before she died, I?m so sorry, it was so close too.
Rutland Water is rather lovely too though, I love that one building that remains, stuck right out in the water!
-
Sorry must have written that incorrectly, my mum died in Australia - we were meeting up with an Uncle and Aunt who had visited us in Australia. We stayed in the resort at Rutland Water and my uncle joined us there which was lovely.
-
. . . Or I read it wrong more likely! Well I?m pleased you were with her at the end.

Charlotte, this is an absolutely divine photo. You were fortunate indeed to capture it without a tourist in sight.
It's beautiful in every way - composition, color, scene, sharpness, and, of course, its Harry Potter relevance.
It would be extremely difficult to capture this scene in any improved way. Just perfection! Bravo!

Hi Easton, thank you So very much for your fabulous glowing review and wonderful six stars!
It?s a very beautiful castle in its own right, but the Harry Potter connection has really increased the footfall out of all proportion - Kevin Costner?s Robin Hood was also filmed there, I always found it great fun walking the battlements knowing that he walked them too!
I?ve recently moved away from the area, but Alnwick was my nearest town for shopping etc. it was always so lovely to see the castle looming over the small town.

You are very welcome, Charlotte!
What a beautiful area you lived in. Who else gets a glimpse of a castle when out shopping for some fish and chips?
-
Yes it really is a stunning area of England, but it was So cold! Situated just below Scotland, it?s on average 8 degrees (centigrade) colder than in the south, but only 350 miles away! My main reason for moving, I wanted some sun!! Lol
-
Wanting more sunlight is a good reason to move! Enjoy.

I was just scrolling through... this outstanding landscape stopped me in my tracks. There are such wonderful contrasts of colour, of light and dark , cheerfulness and sinisterness (word?); it blew me away!

A beautiful picturesque scene, very much painting like and full of interest. Wonderfully composed with the daffodils in the forefront. Thanks for showing us part of the Alnwick Castle where the first two of the Harry Potter films were made. The clouds in the sky give this image so much character and so do the distant trees. Wonderfully composed Charlotte and all the best in the contest!

Just look at that mysterious sky, and those fields of yellow and white Daffodils, and of course the castle turret. It all fits together so nice, Charlotte, this came out so nice. Ray

What? You?ve never watched Harry Potter Sean? Shame on you! Lol
My son is such an avid fan, that I think I must have watched each of them at least ten times over the years! It was also used in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (with Kevin Costner) and a couple of the Downton Abbey episodes.
Thanks for your kind review.

Sorry,Charlotte! We won't have anything to do with such nonsense.

In this captivating photo, the castle takes centre stage, effortlessly capturing our hearts. As it gracefully poses amidst a vibrant tapestry of flowers, nature's innate charm and beauty radiate, reminding us of the delightful harmony between nature and our building skills. Here goes my first six of the week. Good luck!

What a beautiful scene this is! I like the various layers and your POV here to place the famous structure off to the left . Nice sky alive with clouds and a sense of motion m the structure and sloping land with nice tree cover, the yellow flowers and the white and yellow flowers in the foreground , this all comes together perfectly.
Well focused, this image is clear, exposure is correct, colors and tones appear true and natural.
Well composed and presented!

Thank you so much Pat! The castle is situated in the centre of my nearest town, before I moved down south, it was always so wonderful to pass by it whenever I went shopping, and the countryside around it is just lovely.
