Great pose. He was looking at you. Great vantage point. I like the contrasting colors of its fur against the bark of the tree. A showcase of texture, too. The portrait orientation framed your furry subject well. Best of luck in this contest.

The first time I saw a chipmunk was on a holiday to the Rocky Mountains in Canada, and I thought they were so cute. Just like the one in your photo. I like so much the way it is posing for you, and how the bark is framing it. The light is falling on the animal in such a lovely way.
The chipmunk is standing out sharp and well defined against the background, and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the animal. The exposure is just spot on.
The tall format is perfect, and the chipmunk has got a fine placement off to the left. This of course makes for a good and well balanced composition. Indeed a sweet and well taken photo Lee Ann, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.
